A six-year-old Georgia girl was found drenched in toilet water and bloodied inside an elementary school bathroom following a vicious and brutal attack by another student, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
At approximately 10 a.m. Thursday morning at Oakland Elementary School, a fifth-grader pulled Lanira – who is a first-grader of McDonough – into a bathroom, where she began “choking her, [banging] her head viciously on the toilet, and covering her mouth.”
When a teacher heard the commotion, she immediately made her way to the bathroom, where she discovered Lanira on the floor, drenched in toilet water and covered in blood. The victims’ parents, Jeremy and Cheryl Tackett, were immediately notified of the bathroom attack, and the girl’s mother stated that she had difficulties consoling her daughter as she herself couldn’t keep it together.

Cheryl said after learning her daughter was attacked at school, she “couldn’t do anything but cry.”
But just a week prior to the bathroom attack on the first-grader, Cheryl stated that she warned school administrators at Oakland Elementary School about the dangers the fifth-grader, whose name has been withheld, posed on her daughter. She went on to say that the fifth-grader “threatened Lanira on the bus and said she was going to beat her up;” however, the mother of five never thought that it would get this violent.
Lanira’s father Jeremy Tackett said, “You send your kids to school to get an education, they should not have to worry about getting pulled into the bathroom and getting pummeled by somebody almost twice their age.”
The victim was taken to a local hospital following the bathroom attack, and was released a few hours later. Although she suffered several scratches and bruising, she is expected to recover. However, her parents are now concerned about her safety at Oakland Elementary School and the emotional impact the vicious attack left on Lanira, according to 11 Alive.
Her mother stated that when “she goes to describe the attack, she can’t really finish because she cries. She’s traumatized. She doesn’t want to go in the bathrooms by herself anymore.”
“I just want my daughter to feel safe. This is my baby. Who would attack an innocent 6-year-old?”
The child’s mother believes the “attack was premeditated, and that the fifth-grader knew exactly what she was doing” when she tricked her daughter into believing that she only wanted to talk. Once Lanira was in arm’s reach, she pulled her into the bathroom and began viciously attacking her.
Cheryl is now warning other parents to keep their children informed about bullying and to get involved with teachers and staff at the school to help keep students safe.
“Older students should not be allowed to be with younger students,” said Cheryl. “This is a problem that happens all the time in schools, and we need to address it so that our younger ones are safe at school and do not have to deal with this problem.”

Following the bathroom attack, Cheryl and her husband decided to withdraw all five of their children from Oakland Elementary School. Jeremy said, “As parents, you have to do whatever it takes to keep your children safe.”
Although the school administrators at Oakland Elementary School did not release a statement following the bathroom attack, they did, however, state that they are aware of the incident and they are conducting their own investigation. However, since the incident involves two minors, they stated that they cannot say much on the case.
The fifth-grader who viciously attacked the six-year-old girl in the bathroom was charged in juvenile court Thursday, but further details have not been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
