The teen named Daniel Stroud is getting plenty of attention, all in relation to the stabbing death of Bailey Gwynne. Stroud is a 16-year-old, as reported by the Guardian, who is helping officers learn more about the death at Cults Academy in Scotland. The stabbing death occurred during the lunch hour at the prestigious Cults Academy in Aberdeen, around 1:30 p.m. local time. Bailey was a student at Cults Academy whose death prompted local authorities to hold Daniel for questioning. Stroud is the focus of the killing of Gwynne, who died on Wednesday afternoon, October 28, at Aberdeen Royal infirmary from his stabbing wounds. A Facebook page attributed to Stroud at Facebook.com/daniel.stroudie has been deleted.

Student at Cults Academy said that Bailey was stabbed to death on “the Street,” the nickname given for a walkway between classrooms at Cults Academy. One instructor tried to administer first aid to Gwynne. However, the attempts were unsuccessful in saving Bailey’s life. Cults Academy was placed in lockdown mode directly after the stabbing, as worried parents gathered at Cults Academy to learn more about what happened.
With Stroud at the center of controversy and Daniel’s face appearing on many publications as Stroud’s Facebook photos and social media footprint are analyzed en masse, the hashtag #RIPBailey has become a gathering place for those tweeting about the tragic death.
According to Heavy, Facebook photos from Daniel’s Facebook account were procured prior to Stroud’s Facebook page being deleted. In the photos, it appears that Daniel wears a hat in some photos, with most of the Stroud Facebook photos showing the teen sporting long hair. The publication also lists the Facebook groups to which Stroud belonged, as well as the fact that Daniel had no other personal information on Facebook. The fact that Stroud appears overweight in the Facebook photos are an important factor to the case.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Stroud was reportedly teased about his weight prior to Bailey’s death due to being stabbed with a pen knife.
Stroud was 16, just like Bailey, reports Heavy. Daniel has not yet been named as a suspect in the stabbing death, but students are remembering Bailey for his goals and dreams. Bailey was reportedly really into the gym, which was Bailey’s passion, reports the Scottish Daily Record.
“He wanted to join the Royal Marines. He was set on it. He had the drive to do it.”
With fights reportedly rare at Cults Academy, which is located in a well-to-do section, the school has been praised as a high performing institution of learning. Tributes have flowed in on social media and flowers left at Cults Academy, along with shocking reactions to the rare death at the school. Cults Academy has more than 1,000 students, and will be shuttered for the remainder of the week as counselors are made available for students to talk about the shocking death.
